KURUNEGALA — 

The Royalist Chess Club has officially announced a transition in executive leadership, appointing W M Vimukthi Gunathilake as the new President of the club, serving through the end of 2027.

Vimukthi steps into the presidential role to spearhead the club's next development phase, focusing on expanding competitive opportunities, empowering players across all divisions, and strengthening the Royalist identity both on and off the board.

Former President and Founder Tharusha Ravinath will continue to support the leadership structure alongside the existing executive board members, who will remain in their respective positions to ensure continuous operational stability and strategic alignment.

"Every chapter has helped shape what Royalist is today," the board shared in an official statement. "We extend our gratitude to our founding leadership for building this foundation, and we warmly congratulate Vimukthi on his appointment. We look forward to a successful tenure marked by unity, ambition, and sustained competitive excellence."
