Wayamba Royal College Sports Meet 2026 – Chess Championship

The Chess Championship of the Wayamba Royal College Sports Meet 2026 was successfully held on 11th February 2026 at the Wayamba Royal College Main Hall. The event was organized by the Royalist Chess Club on behalf of the Wayamba Royal College Chess Unit, marking a significant intellectual highlight of the annual sports festival.

The tournament was conducted under the leadership of Tharusha Ravinath (Tournament Organizer), officiated by Imesh Dilshan Rajakaruna (Chief Arbiter), and coordinated by Lakshima Sithumini Jayapathma (Event Coordinator), ensuring a fair, disciplined, and professionally managed competition.

🏆 Championship Results

The overall championship title was secured by Uranus House, who delivered a dominant performance across all age categories, consistently accumulating points throughout the tournament.

The competition for the remaining top positions was exceptionally intense:

The battle for 2nd and 3rd places was particularly thrilling, with the final standings being decided by the narrowest of margins. Remarkably, the point difference among the last three houses was just one point each, reflecting the highly competitive nature of the tournament.
