Royalist Chess Club Donates DGT2010 Chess Clocks to Wayamba Royal College
Kurunegala, July 30, 2025 —
In a generous move to promote chess excellence, the Royalist Chess Club donated four DGT2010 digital chess clocks to Wayamba Royal College, supporting the school’s chess unit in training and competitions. The donation was made possible through the funds raised during the Duel of Royal Tacticians 2025, a highly successful chess tournament organized by the club.
The clocks were officially handed over to the teacher in charge of the chess unit at Wayamba Royal College in a small ceremony on July 30. The donation aims to provide students with professional-grade equipment, enhancing their tournament readiness and helping them develop strategic skills under timed conditions.
Speaking about the donation, a spokesperson for the Royalist Chess Club said, “We are proud to support Wayamba Royal College in nurturing the next generation of chess players. The funds raised from our Duel of Royal Tacticians event have allowed us to provide resources that will directly benefit the students and elevate the standard of chess at the school.”
The donation marks another step in the Royalist Chess Club’s ongoing mission to promote chess education and foster local talent. By equipping students with quality tools like the DGT2010 clocks, the club hopes to inspire more young players to engage deeply with the game and achieve success in both school-level and national competitions.
This initiative reinforces the importance of community support and collaboration in advancing chess culture across schools in the region.
