The Duel of Royal Tacticians 2025 was held as an intra-school chess competition at Wayamba Royal College, Kurunegala. The event brought together the school’s developing chess talents for a day of strategic battles, learning opportunities, and community bonding.

The tournament was designed to introduce chess to new and upcoming players at Wayamba Royal College.
Its goal was to:
Encourage students to explore chess
Build interest in strategic thinking and decision-making
Offer beginners a supportive environment to compete in
Strengthen the school’s growing chess culture
2. To Raise Funds for the Wayamba Royal College Chess Unit

The event also served as a fundraiser to support the continuous development of the school’s chess unit.
Funds raised will be used for:
Purchasing new chess boards and clocks
Improving training resources and materials
Supporting players in external competitions
Enhancing the overall infrastructure of the chess program
